Who We Are

NYC-Based. Globally Rigorous. Quality-Driven.

We deliver actionable research and insights that match your needs.

Atlas Consulting and Advisory LLC is a New York-based research and advisory practice, built on two decades of survey research and evaluation experience spanning U.S. public opinion research and international development work with UNICEF, USAID, and the World Bank. Atlas exists to bring that same energy and rigor to NYC agencies, private-sector clients and non-profits who need clear, defensible answers.

Our Mission
To use rigorous research to generate the evidence leaders need to make stronger decisions and drive impact.
Our Background

Experience That Spans Contexts

  • U.S. public opinion research: National representative polling and focus groups as Head of Research at JUST Capital, building a corporate sustainability index
  • Program evaluation: Child well-being frameworks for Terre des hommes; child protection indicator systems for ACPHA; baseline assessment for USDA's RAIN program in Thailand
  • Applied teaching: Director of Baruch College's survey research center, taught survey methodology to undergraduates
  • International household surveys: UNICEF MICS and USAID DHS surveys across 50+ countries, including complex statistical analysis
  • Corporate supply chain risk: Child labor risk assessment in cocoa supply chains
  • Survey methodology consulting: Revised the European Union's approach to population-based estimates of key child indicators
  • Innovative survey methods: Rapid phone-based surveys for the World Bank

This blend of statistical and methodological rigor allows us to deliver insights that are both technically sound and operationally relevant — whether supporting a city agency, a private company, or a public-facing organization.

Leadership

The Team Behind ATLAS

Shane Khan, PhD

Founder & Executive Director

Atlas Consulting and Advisory LLC

Shane Khan, PhD, is the founder of Atlas Consulting and Advisory LLC. He has led national U.S. public opinion research as Head of Research at JUST Capital, from running representative surveys and focus groups, to engaging directly with companies and investors on the results, and taught survey methodology at Baruch College. He holds a PhD in Public Health (Maternal & Child Health) from UNC's Gillings School of Global Public Health, with doctoral-level training in survey methodology and econometrics, and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on survey methodology and public health (full publication list available on request)

That U.S.-facing work is backed by two decades designing, fielding, and analyzing household and population surveys for UNICEF and USAID — including leading UNICEF's regional survey program across Latin America and the Caribbean — and advising the European Union on the methodology behind its population-based estimates. He continues that work today, currently advising a major UN agency on the future strategic direction of one of its flagship survey programs and supporting a World Bank engagement. Atlas draws on this full range of experience to deliver research that meets both academic and operational standards.

Shane founded Atlas to deliver rapid, reliable, and actionable research that meets the pace and complexity of today’s world.
